women’s issues
Women often carry a unique combination of emotional, physical, relational, and caregiving demands. These demands can shift significantly across different stages of life.
Therapy can provide support for concerns related to the menstrual cycle and hormonal changes, pregnancy and postpartum, perimenopause, and other life transitions. It can also be a safe space to address the less visible pressures many women carry, and the mental load of managing a household and family, parenting demands, changing relationships, competing roles, and the feeling of being responsible for everyone else’s needs.
what can we do about these issues?
First and foremost, my approach often includes referrals to local medical professionals (if we’re meeting in person) or assistance in finding those professionals in your area (if we’re meeting via telehealth). It’s important to rule out and address any underlying biochemical needs before addressing issues in therapy!
Depending on you and your family’s unique needs and resources, my referrals and suggestions might also include additional support like doulas, household managers, support groups, online learning, or additional therapeutic interventions from other couples and/or family therapists.
Beyond these considerations, we will work together to address the concerns that are directly within your circle of control. This, in itself, is often empowering and encouraging and creates a foundation to approach life with a renewed sense of hopefulness.
